چکیده

Preliminary results show microradiography and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to be more accurate methods of accessing growth layer groups (GLGs) in the teeth of Tursiops fmncarus than transmitted light microscopy. Microradiography shoas the rhythmic deposition of mineral as alternating radiopaque and radiolucent layers. I t improves the resolution of CLGs near the pulp cavity in older individuals, better than either SEM or light microscopy. SEM of etched sections show GLGs as ridges and grouves which are easily counted from the micrograph. SEM also shows GLGs to be composed of fine incremental layers of uniform s ~ z e and number which may allow for morc precise age determination. Accessory layers are usually hypomineralized layers within the hypermineralized layer of the GLG and arc' more readily distinguishable as such in SEM of etched sections and microradiographs than in thin sections viewed undcr transmitted lisht. The neonatal line is hypomineralized. appearing translucent under transmitted light, radiolucent in a microradiograph, and as a ridge in SEM.

The Effects of Different Seed Layers and Growth Time on the Quality of ZnO NRs Arrays

ZnO nanorods (NRs) were synthesized using an in situ low-temperature hydrothermal method. In order to investigate the effect of different seed layers on quality of ZnO NRs arrays, alcoholic, alkaline and acidic seed solutions were deposited by spin coating on ITO-glass substrate. Experimental results revealed that the vertically ZnO NRs obtained from monoethanolamine-based seed layer is the...

Comparison of Tubular Penetration of AH26, EasySeal, and SureSeal Root Canal Sealers in Single-Rooted Teeth Using Scanning Electron Microscopy

Background and Aim: Tubular penetration of root canal sealers prevents filling material displacement and overgrowth of microorganisms in dentinal tubules. The aim of this study was to compare the tubular penetration of AH26, EasySeal, and SureSeal sealers in single-rooted teeth using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Materials and Methods: Fifty human single-rooted teeth were included in thi...

The Cochlea of the Dolphin, Tursiops truncatus: General Morphology.

The anatomy of the cochlea of the dolphin Tursiops truncatus was studied in a number of specimens after fixation by vital perfusion, cellodin embedding, and serial sectioning. The results reveal the general structural relations and cellular detail up to the limits of light microscopy. A description is given of the variations of structure along the course of the cochlea, in which there are many ...

Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) do also cast neutrophil extracellular traps against the apicomplexan parasite Neospora caninum

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are web-like structures composed of nuclear DNA decorated with histones and cytoplasmic peptides which antiparasitic properties have not previously been investigated in cetaceans. Polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) were isolated from healthy bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), and stimulated with Neospora caninum tachyzoites and the NETs-agonist zymo...

Synthesis and characterization of Gd2O2 S: Tb3+ phosphor powder for X-ray imaging detectors

Gadolinium oxysulfide phosphor doped with trivalent terbium have been synthesized using urea homogenous precipitation and followed by sulfurization at 800 °C under argon atmosphere. Structural and morphological of synthesized phosphor powder were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR). Hexagonal structure ...
